Can a periodontal procedure improve the appearance of my smile?

While most of the procedures we offer were originally developed to solve a particular health concern, several of them can be adapted to help improve a smile's appearance, and we are happy to discuss this option with you. Your smile is your calling card, and you deserve to be able to speak and laugh with confidence.

One of the most popular procedures we offer is gingival contouring. Using a laser, we remove excess gum tissue and shape the gums around the teeth for a more pleasing appearance. This is often done to correct what is referred to as a "gummy smile." By revealing more of your tooth structure, your smile will look more open.

Crown lengthening can also be done if your teeth appear too short. Like gingival contouring, we can remove excess tissue and allow more of your tooth structure to show.

Some patients come to us with concerns about a short or tight frenum. This thin band of tissue connects your gums to your lips, but if it's too tight, it may impede speech. Laser frenectomies release the frenum so that your lips can move more freely.
