Osseous Surgery
The goal of surgical therapy is to restore health and function to the periodontium and to preserve teeth for a lifetime. Osseous surgery, in particular, is periodontal surgery involving some modification of the bone around the teeth and is done to reduce gum pockets. This is done by reshaping the bone and gum tissue into a more physiologic form after the bone has been destructed by gum disease.
