What's the best way to replace a missing tooth?

If you ask just about any dental professional, you are likely to be told that a dental implant is the best way to replace a missing tooth. While ongoing research is revealing new methods that may be available soon, the dental implant is currently the replacement option that looks, feels, and functions like your own natural teeth.

Dental implants do something that no other tooth replacement option can do – they preserve the relationship between the roots of your teeth and the periodontal bone. When a tooth is lost and this relationship ends, the bone is no longer stimulated to maintain itself. It becomes diminished and begins to resorb. This affects the health of your whole mouth, can change the shape of your face, and usually leads to more missing teeth. A dental implant functions like a root and helps the bone stay healthy.

Implants can be restored in a few different ways, based on your own individual needs. We can use individual crowns, bridges, or even dentures. Your doctor will discuss your options with you and help you make the decision that is best for your health and your lifestyle.
