Advanced technology is a key element of any successful dental practice. At South Shore Long Island Periodontics & Implantology we’ve invested in technology to provide you with the highest quality treatment possible. We’re pioneering periodontists, not only having experience placing dental implants since the technology was introduced, but also leading the way in offering innovative tools and treatments. We were the first practice on Long Island using low-radiation i-CAT™ imaging technology and are the only practice in the area using the most advanced same-day guided dental implant surgery techniques. Experience the benefits of this technology for yourself in our Wantagh, NY office. Schedule a consultation with a periodontist today!
When we perform surgery, such as placing dental implants, precision and accuracy are crucial. Using a guided surgery system, we can place implants and perform other types of surgery more efficiently and effectively than ever before. Our comprehensive software system allows us to accurately plan treatment and place implants with incredible precision. This allows for high success rates and predictable results that we can deliver in just one day, getting you back to normal life more quickly.
This system allows for digital imaging right here in our Wantagh, NY office that is both high-definition and three-dimensional. The main advantage of this scanning system is that it exposes you to significantly less radiation than traditional medical CT scans and allows for quicker and easier image acquisition. A typical i-CAT scan takes only twenty seconds. After the images are retrieved, the state-of-the-art software allows your doctor to perform the most thorough diagnoses possible in a variety of treatment areas. Because a 3D image is produced, we can offer the most accurate and interactive treatment planning between you and your doctor.
State-of-the-art technology has allowed for laser therapy to be an integral part of our periodontal and implant practice. Laser surgery is so precise that healthy surrounding tissue is scarcely affected. Our CO2 laser gives us an exceptional level of control in performing certain periodontal procedures, including frenectomies, during which we remove tissues that restrict movement of your mouth and make eating and speaking difficult. In cases of gum disease, we can use the laser to remove bacteria, plaque, and tartar or the affected tissue itself if necessary. It can even remove your unwanted tattoos! The VELscope, combined with a visual and tactile examination, allows your doctor to identify areas of soft tissue where pathological changes may be developing. The VELscope® highlights areas where problematic cells are detected. We may perform a biopsy or refer you to a specialist to render the correct diagnosis and treatment. One of the keys to successful treatment of oral cancer is early detection. The VELscope helps us catch oral cancer as early as possible, often before it can be detected with the naked eye.
Using a small, wand-like camera we can take high-resolution, close-up images of the interior of your mouth. This enables us to show you problem areas on the spot and provide more precise, effective treatment. This modern technology also replaces messy, uncomfortable, and time-consuming impressions with digital ones.
Using specialized software and modern imaging, we’re able to digitally plan dental implant surgery and then fabricate surgical guides in-house using our 3D printer. These guides make dental implant placement more accurate, more efficient, and more precise. And printing them in-house can streamline your treatment, getting you to your new smile faster. We also use this technology to custom create models as diagnostic tools and for clear patient communication and education.
Sophisticated dental technology is beneficial only if the professionals offering it have solid credentials. As board-certified periodontists, our team has been recognized by the leading authorities in dentistry as being up-to-date on treatments and therapies. Each of our periodontists has up to four years of additional training beyond dental school in specialties including implantology, surgery, gum and bone physiology, and more. We’re exceptionally qualified to provide you the finest care.
